Home Hearing Tests Hearing aids can only be prescribed privately in the UK by HCPC-registered Hearing Aid Dispensers. All our audiology team are fully registered and qualified to provide hearing assessments and prescribe hearing aids. During your appointment, we will: Ask about your hearing, how it affects your daily life and communication, and any relevant medical history. This may include questions about tinnitus, dizziness or balance problems. Examine your ears to check for ear wax or any other abnormalities. Measure your hearing in a soundproof booth using calibrated equipment. You'll wear headphones and a small bone-conduction headset placed behind your ear. If we identify a condition that needs medical assessment, we'll explain our findings and refer you to the appropriate healthcare professional. In most cases, we'll offer you the opportunity to try a modern hearing aid system at home. This allows you to experience the benefits in your everyday environments before deciding. Your trial will usually last 2–4 weeks, and you're welcome to try different hearing aid models if you'd like to compare them.
